James St swing bridge decision to be released today

Taxpayers in Thunder Bay will know later today how the city councillors have chosen to respond to CN Rail's offers to re-open the James St. swing bridge.

Taxpayers in Thunder Bay will know later today howcity councillors have chosen to respond to CNRail's offers to re-open the James St. swing bridge.

The railway gave the city three options on how to proceed with repairs to the structure.

Following its regular council meeting, councillors met for about 2.5 hours Monday night with lawyers and city staff to discuss the issue.

Mayor Keith Hobbs said he could not tell the public just yet how council has chosen to proceed, buthe confirmed all members of council are on the same page.

"I'm happy that we're unanimous as a council.We've been unanimous on so many issues this term of council and again, we're unanimous."

Hobbs said the city will tell CN its decisionat noon today.

He said the public will be made aware of the decision shortly after that.
