In 1988, CBC host Peter Mansbridge was set to begin his tenure as host of the National, arguably becoming the de facto face and voice of the network.

Before assuming that role, Mansbridge visited the CBC studios in Thunder Bay to chat with Terry MacLeod of morning show "The Great Northwest."

According to MattProkopchuk, host of "Wayback with Matt,"Mansbridgewas giving a public lecture atLakeheadUniversity, and dropped by CBC studios the next morning.
