Marlan Patrick Chookomolin, 25, dies in Thunder Bay, Ont., hospital

A 25-year-old man who was found "unresponsive" on a north-side Thunder Bay, Ont., recreation trail early Sunday morning has died after being taken off life support, according to police.

A 25-year-old man who was found "unresponsive" on a north-side Thunder Bay, Ont., recreation trail early Sunday morning has died after being taken off life support, city police said in a written release Tuesday.

Marlan Patrick Chookomolin was found on a pathway that runs parallel to the Thunder Bay Expressway, just north of Dawson Road around midnight on June 25. Thetrail network continues behind the Landmark Inn into the County Park neighbourhood.

Chookomolin had been listed in critical condition.

Police said on Tuesday that Chookomolin was taken off life support Monday and subsequently died thatnight. A post-mortem is scheduled to take place in Toronto on Wednesday.

Police said investigators are conducting interviews and gathering video footage in order to trace Chookomolin's whereabouts Saturday afternoon and evening. Police are also looking to speak with anyone who saw him on that day.
