Police identify Thunder Bay woman hit by bus

Thunder Bay Police are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian and a Thunder Bay Transit bus on Thursday evening.

City police said 72 year old Audrey Kahkonenwas hit by a southbound bus around 7 o'clock at the intersection of AlgomaStreet and Waverley Street,across the street from the Everest funeral home.

The woman was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre last night. At the time, police said she was in critical condition.

Traffic was diverted around the area to allow the traffic unit to reconstruct the collision.

On Friday afternoon, police reported they had not been advised of any change in Kahkonen'scondition.

In a news release, they said they were making progress in the investigation, however they were not releasing any information about what they had determined.

Thunder Bay Transit manager Brad Loroff said the driver involved in the collision would not be operating a bus on Friday.
