Wake the Giant kicks off new feature for DFC students: Skate the Giant

Every year, Wake the Giant gives Dennis Franklin Cromarty(DFC) students a chance to learn about Thunder Bay, and hear some great live music.

Dennis Franklin Cromarty students got a chance to see and try out skateboarding as part of the Wake the Giant festivities in Thunder Bay, Ont.

The first annual Skate the Giant, part of the Wake The Giant festival, kicked off today. Dennis Franklin Cromarty students tried skateboarding and watched pro-level skaters give a demonstration, all part of an effort to make the students from the northern communities feel welcome in Thunder Bay.

Every year, Wake the Giant gives Dennis Franklin Cromarty(DFC) students a chance to learn about Thunder Bay, and hear some great live music.

And this year, something new was added Skate the Giant. The event saw more than 100 DFC students visit skatepark at Marina Park to try out skateboarding, and watch professional skaters in action.

Wake the Giant continues on Saturday with the annual music festival.

This year, Arkells, Galantis, Walk off the Earth, Coleman Hell, and DJ Shub will grace the Marina Park stage.
