Teen in critical condition after pedestrian collision on FWFN

A 16-year-old girl is in hospital in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on Fort William First Nation early Saturday evening.

A 16-year-old girl remainsin hospital in critical condition after a collision on Fort William First Nation on the weekend.

The Anishinabek Police Servicesaidthe teen was hit by a vehicle while walking early Saturday evening.

Police are not releasing the identity of the girlbut said sheis a resident of the First Nation.

A spokesperson for Superior-North Emergency Medical Services said paramedics found the youth unconscious in a roadside ditch.

Both Thunder Bay OPP and local Anishinabek Police officers responded to the incident.

Fort William Detachment CommanderDerek Johnson saidat this point no charges have been laid against the male driver who is also from Fort William First Nation.

The investigation into the collision continues.
