Thieves grab $800 skates from 15-year-old

An $800 pair of skates belonging to a 15-year-old boy was taken at a Thunder Bay rink on Friday evening.

An $800 pair of skates belonging to a 15-year-old boy was taken at a rink on Friday evening, right after the youth took them off.

Thunder Bay police report the incident happened at the Kinsmen Centre rink on North James Streetjust before 9:30p.m.

Police said the youth was taking off his skates when he was approached by two males and two females. One of the females picked up his skates and started to walk away.

The teen got up to get his skates backbut he was confronted by a male who pushed him and threatened him with a knife, police said. The boy was not injured.

Police checked the area for the suspects, who were last seen heading east from the Kinsmen Centre, but were unable to locate them or the teens skates.

The female suspects are both described as average height with long dark hair. They were wearing skinny jeansalong with grey and black bomber-style jackets. One male suspect is described as being 6'1" tall with facial hair and wearing a large fur hat. The second male is said to be about5'8" tall, wearing a black hoodie.

The stolen skates are Easton E Youth skates, size 7.

Police are asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of these skates to contact police at 684-1200. Any potential witnesses or anyone with information about who the suspects may be are asked to contact police as well.
