Thunder Bay business launches city's first online grocery store

A local family-owned business is launching Thunder Bay's first online grocery store.

Quality Marketco-owner David Stezenko said customers can order groceriesfrom Quality Market Online, starting Monday.

Prices, including discounts, will be the same as in the store, but there willbe an added fee forpick-up and delivery.

He expected the website to appeal to busy families, as well as seniors and people with disabilities.

He said the site replaces the cumbersome catalogue his store had posted online before, and he hopes itwill increase grocery orders from First Nation communities.

"When we started selling food to folks in the North ... while they (were) very excited ... they found it difficult," Stezenko said. "Some people after battling through it ... they quite simply just dropped it."

Stezenko said Quality Market has worked with Nishnawbe AskiNation to make the website easy to use, and noted that any applicableNutrition Northsubsidies are automatically calculated for eligible goods.
