Wabaseemoong First Nation man dead after entering northwestern Ontario lake

Ontario Provincial Police say a 27-year-old man is dead after he reportedly entered a northwestern Ontario lake and did not resurface.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 27-year-old man is dead after he reportedly entered a northwestern Ontario lake and did not resurface.

Desmond Boyd from Wabaseemoong First Nation went intoGoshawk Lake at a landing in the community on Friday, police said in a written release. Wabaseemoong is about 120 kilometres northwest of Kenora.

Ontario Provincial and Treaty Three police, along with paramedics from Kenora searched for the man, the OPP said.

He was subsequently found and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
