Anne-MarieMediwake,co-host of CBC Toronto Newsat 6 p.m., is leaving the public broadcaster.

Mediwake, who has been a news anchor with CBC News for more than six years, isleaving for another opportunity.

On Wednesday's show,Mediwake thanked the "army of people who work throughout the day to bring you this award-winning show.
"They care more and work harder than any newsroom I know," she said, adding that "I'm very proud to have been part of this team" and that she considers her co-host Dwight Drummond"a brother."

Earlier this year,Mediwakeand Drummondwere nominated in the best news anchor category at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards (CSA). For the last three years, the program has been nominated as Best Newscast at theCSAs,winning the award in 2015.

Mediwakewas also nominated for Best Local News Anchor at theCSAs in 2014.

Mediwakeworked for Global Television's Toronto flagship newscast andforCTVNational News before joining CBC News in 2009.

Her last day on-air isWednesday.Drummondwill continue to anchorCBC'sevening news program with other CBC journalists filling in.
