Five Indigenous students launched the a birch bark canoe they made by hand under the direction of a long-time canoe builder Chuck Commanda. The students say the experience helped them better understand their heritage and ancestry.

Since the pandemic began, the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington has seen an increase in referrals for eating disorders in the region. Kelly Forster, manager of the Eating Disorder Program talks to The Morning Edition host Craig Norris about the issue.

Riverfest Elora will be hosting their annual summer festival towards the end of August, but at a limited capacity due to COVID-19 protocols. It will take place at the Elora Centre for the Arts, where it all began in 2009.

Universities are working to ensure a safe return back to campus after Ontario's post-secondary institutions were told to prepare for a normal return to campus in the fall, with backup plans just in case of more coronavirus spread.
