Blue Jays playoff tickets snapped up by fans

Blue Jays fans snapped up playoff tickets Thursday, the first day seats were available to the general public.

Playoff tickets for season-ticket and flex-pass holders have been on sale for weeks, but today was the first day the general public had a crack at seats.

Sales opened at 10 a.m. ET and just before noon the team tweeted that all seats for the American League Division Series were sold out, with a small number of seats still available for the AL wild-card game.

The Jays currently lead the American League East by 3 games, and are close to clinching a playoff spot which would markthe team'sfirst playoff appearance since winning the World Series in 1993, breaking thelongestplayoff drought in Major League Baseball. Theirregular season concludes on Oct. 4.

Although a handful of fans linedup at the Rogers Centre this morning hoping to buy tickets at the box office, the team tweeted that tickets were only be available by phone or online. Some told CBC News they were disappointed there was no option to buy tickets in person.

"We're clearly not happy," DileepRatnarajatold CBC News. "We'll try online to see how it goes."

Jennifer Ford arrived at 9 a.m. said she felt "discriminated against" because she doesn't have a credit card, which is needed for online purchases.

Tickets for the AL wild-card game on Oct. 6 (which the Blue Jays would play in should they not finish first in the AL East, yet clinch a playoff spot)and for the Oct. 8-14 divisional series (the ALDS, which would involve the Jays should they win the division)can be purchasedon the Blue Jays website.

First-round playoff tickets range from $50 in the upper deck to $450 for the best seats.

Past the ALDS, here are other playoff dates to watch for:

• If the Blue Jays qualify for the AL Championship Series (ALCS), ticketswill go on sale on Oct. 7.
• Should Toronto advance to the World Series, tickets will be available starting on Oct. 22.
