A body was found inside a burnt-out shed in Scarborough and it appears the structure may have been in use as a living shelter.

A fire was reported in an abandoned shed behind a cement plant near McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue East late last night. When firefighters put out the flames, they discovered a body.

CBC overnight reporter Tony Smyth reported that a bicycle, chair and lantern were at the site.

Temperatures of -20 C were recorded overnight. It's believed a homeless person may have started the fire to keep warm.

This would be the fourth homeless person to die in Toronto in last eight days.
