Canada Bread heading to Hamilton

Canada Bread says it will build its massive new bakery in Hamilton.

Canada Bread is moving to Hamilton.

The company says putting its massive new bakery in Hamilton will create up to 120 construction jobs and up to 300 jobs once the plant is completed next year.

The bakery will be built on a 10-hectare property in North Glanbrook Industrial Park.

Canada Bread already employs about 340 people at its Fresh Bakery and Olivieri pasta facilities in Hamilton.

The company is closing three smaller and older bakeries in Toronto.

Canada Bread officials have said they hoped to find jobs for the 435 Toronto bakery workers at its new plant or at its parent company Maple Leaf Foods.
