Three Toronto marijuana dispensaries raided by police

Three Toronto pot shops includingCannabis Culture, a marijuana dispensary on Queen Street Eastwereraided by police on Wednesday.

At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, the store tweeted that it was "currently being raided by 12-15 Toronto police officers."

Toronto Police spokesperson Mark Pugash told CBC News that two other shops The Green Room on Mount Pleasant Road and The Healing Centre on Dundas Street West were also raided by officers.

Pugash said a total of nine people were arrested and are expected to be charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking andpossession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Outspoken marijuana advocate Jodie Emery, who is an investor in Cannabis Culture, tweeted that the store, which is located at 711 Queen Street East, would re-open Thursday and that a newsconference would be held in front of the shop at 10 a.m.

In May,police raided 43 such dispensaries, arresting90 people and laying a total of 186 charges. Police also seized269 kilograms of dried marijuana in those raids, along witha large quantity of cookies and other marijuana edibles.

On June 23, police visited Cannabis Culture'sQueen Street West location, as well as three other Toronto dispensaries.
