Child, adult both suffer 'major injuries' in head-on crash

A child and an adult each suffered "major injuries" in a head-on collision just south of Stratford, Ont., late Sunday afternoon.

A child and an adult each suffered "major injuries" in a head-on collision just south of Stratford, Ont., late Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred on Embro Road, north of Line 20, in the Township of Perth South, shortly after 5 p.m.

Ontario Provincial Police say that a southbound Pontiac Grand Am crossed into an oncoming lane and struck a northbound Chevrolet van.

The Grand Am was carrying two adults and a child. The child was airlifted to a hospital in London, Ont.

The van had two adults and five children inside it. The adult passenger in this vehicle was also airlifted to a London hospital.

Police say that the other eight passengers were taken to a local hospital.

Embro Road, also known as Perth Road 113, is expected to remain closed between Line 20 and Line 26 until late Sunday evening.

The crash remains under investigation.
