Etobicoke shooting: Teen suspect arrested, charged

Toronto police arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting that killed two high school students in Etobicoke last week.

17-year-old faces charges, including attempted murder

Toronto police have arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting that killed two high school students in Etobicoke last week.

Police say a 17-year-old male was arrested Tuesday afternoon and faces several charges, including attempted murder and various weapons charges. The suspect cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The suspect appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Zaid Athir Youssef, 17, and Michael Menjivar,15, were shot and killed on on Oct. 6 as students from Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School and James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School allegedly gathered at a nearby apartment building to watch a fight.

Police have released photos and video footage of several persons of interest in the case.Police removed four of the images Tuesday evening after identifying the individuals portrayed in them as young persons.
