Motorcyclist dead after collision in Mississauga

A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Mississauga early Friday, Peel police say.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. in the area of Ridgeway and Odyssey drives.

The rider sustained "significant injuries," according to Const.Nikhil Chakravarthy. He was taken to hospital, where he died.

Investigators are still trying to notify the motorcyclist's next of kin,Chakravarthysaid.

The driver and passenger in the vehicle stayed at the scene and are co-operating with police. Both were assessed for relatively minor injuries,Chakravarthysaid.

Ridgeway was closed between Platinum and Unity drives for the police investigation. The closure is expected to remain in place well into the morning,Chakravarthysaid.
