Man killed, 2nd man injured in Mississauga shooting

A man was killed and another injured in a double shooting in Mississauga early Thursday, police say. The shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. in the area of Dixie Road and The Queensway East.

A man was killed and another injured in a double shooting in Mississauga early Thursday, police say.

The shooting happened around 2:40 a.m. in the area of Dixie Road and The Queensway East.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the mankilled isnot being released at this time as they are still in the process of notifying next of kin, saidPeel policeConst. Nikhil Chakravarthy, speaking at the scene late Thursday morning.

No information on suspects is available at this time, he said, adding thatit's also unclear if the victims knew each other or if they were affiliated with the suspects involved.

Chakravarthysaid the shooting "is believed to be isolated in nature" and there are no immediate risks to public safety.

"The circumstances surrounding why the victims were here, why the suspects were here, and what transpired right before the shooting occurred will be part of the homicideinvestigation," Chakravarthy said.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
