An early morning Boxing Day fire gutted a house in the Mount Pleasant and Eglinton Avenue area on Thursday.

Police say an emergency call was placed just before 5:30 a.m. for a small apartment building on Elvina Gardens, located between Mount Pleasant Road and Erskine Avenue.

The fire spread to a attachedhome and has caused several homes in the area to lose power.

Toronto Fire Services division commander Daniel MacIsaac said fire crews arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames.

"We're unable to get inside. The whole house was fully involved," he told CBC News. "There's nothing left of the house now."

Toronto Fire Services tweeted there were no injuries. The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating.
