Freight train partially derails in Richmond Hill

A train derailment in Richmond Hill has closed Elgin Mills Road between Yonge Street and Newkirk Road.

A train derailment in Richmond Hill has closed Elgin Mills East Road between Yonge Street and Newkirk Road.

Two cars on a southbound CN Rail train partially derailed at around noon on Saturday according to CN and York Regional Police.

One was carrying steel, the other was carrying sulphuric acid. No one was injured and no material leaked, officials said.

The cause is under investigation.
