Gun seized, 17-year-old arrested near Etobicoke public housing complex

Toronto police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Etobicoke in the wee hours of Saturday morning after he allegedly ran from them and his gun went off during the chase.

Toronto police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Etobicoke in the wee hours of Saturday morningafter he allegedlyran from them and his gun went off during the chase.

The teen faces charges of possession of an illegal firearm and having recklessly discharged a firearm.

Const. Victor Kwong said that police were in the area on an unrelated call when the teen bolted and the gun went off on Scarlettwood Court.

He could not say if the teen was in any way connected with a fatal shooting that happened on the same street last week.
