Hundreds of people lined up to get their hands pieces of Toronto's history at the corner of Bloorand Bathurst streets Saturday morning.

Iconic discount store Honest Ed's is selling more of its hand-painted signs about 6,000 starting at just $1.A portion of the proceedswill gotowards a scholarship fund being set up at Toronto Police Service's 14 Division.

Known for its Las Vegas-style marquee, low prices and pun-heavy signs, the massiveHonest Ed'sin Toronto's Annex neighbourhood has become a landmark in the city.

Saturday's sign sale isan opportunity forTorontoniansto take home a piece of the retailer before itshuts its doors for good on Dec. 31, 2016.

The store also had a sign sale last year, which similarly drew huge lineups around the block.

Honest Ed's and its surrounding property went up for sale in 2013and were sold to a B.C. developer last fall. Redevelopment plans for the site were unveiled earlier this year, featuringmore than 1,000 rental units, artist studios, a coveredmarket and space for pop-up shops and food trucks.
