Inquest into 2020 death of Toronto inmate to start next month

The Ontario government has announced it has set a date for the inquest into the death of a 41-year-old man who died after being transferred from a detention centre in east Toronto.

The Ontario government has announced it has set a date for the inquest into the death of a 41-year-old man who died after being transferred from a detention centre in east Toronto.

The province says in September 2020, Abdurazak Mussa died in hospital after being transferred from the Toronto East Detention Centre in Scarborough.

It says the inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding his death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The province says the inquest is set to begin on Oct.7. Itwill last five days and hear from approximately 14 witnesses.
