The Crown withdrewtwo of the sex assault charges after determining there wasn't a reasonable prospect of conviction based on theevidence. He still faces five sexual assault charges and onecharge of overcoming resistance by choking.
The Crown said the charges weren't dropped because of an issue of witness credibility, the CBC'sIoanna Roumeliotis reported from the downtown court.
The charges againstGhomeshi, 47, stemfrom interactions with four women.
His court case, which involves three women, will proceed to a judge-only trial in February2016. One sexual assault case, however, is set to be tried separately in June2016.
Ghomeshi's lawyer, Marie Henein, said he will plead not guilty to all charges. He is currently free on $100,000 bail with numerous conditions.
