Air show, BuskerFest among Labour Day weekend events in Toronto

While the summer holidays are coming to a close, there's still one more long weekend for you to enjoy in the city.

Here's everything you need to know about what's happening across Torontoon the weekend, including on Labour Day Monday.

Weekend events

Canadian International Air Show

It's the last weekend of the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), and that means it's time for the annual Canadian International Air Show.

The show, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, will feature the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the U.K.'s Royal Air Force aerobatics team, the Red Arrows.

Thisyear also marks 100 years of service for the Royal Canadian Air Force, said Maj.Brent Handy, team lead for the Snowbirds.

"It's always a treat to fly around the Toronto skyline because it's such an iconic physical view," he said.

Handy said participating in the air show is an exciting privilege.He said the pilots are grateful for the chance to connect with Canadians particularly children, who could be inspired by the performance.

"We want to encourage people to go out there, reach for the stars and chase big dreams," he said.

You can catch the spectacle at Marilyn Bell Park on Lakeshore Boulevard W. from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

BuskerFest and Bark in the Park TO

Toronto International BuskerFest is returning to Woodbine Park this weekend,featuring a widearray of street performers and raising money for Epilepsy Toronto.

The festival, running Fridayto Monday, will include performances by daredevils, acrobats, musicians and magicians. There's also a beer garden with live music and more than 30 food vendors.

Couple Kimberly and Daniel Craig are performing at BuskerFest as The Street Circus an act Daniel describes as "a two-person Cirque du Soleil with a much smaller budget."

The show incorporates their best tricks, performed individually and together, including a hand-to-hand acrobatic routine.

The pair have been street performing for 15 years, Kimberly said. At last year's festival, they won the people's choice award.

In street performances, an act and an audience together transform empty spaces into "a place where there's a little bit of magic, a little bit of fun," Daniel said.

"There's something kind of beautiful about that, the impermanence of it all," he said.

This year, BuskerFest will also feature Bark in the Park TO a dog-focused festival with activities, obstacle courses, costume contests and vendors geared towardyour furry friends.

T.U. Jazz Fest

T.U. Jazz Fest, a free festival for emerging musicians, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year at Mel Lastman Square in North York.

From Friday to Monday, the festival will feature live performances, master-classes taught by musicians and local food vendors.

Toronto Dragon Festival

The annual Toronto Dragon Festival is returning to Nathan PhillipsSquare this weekend, hosted by the Canadian Association of Chinese Performing Arts. The festival is a celebration of Chinese culture, featuring music, performances and food vendors.

This year, spectators can watch a lion dance competition on Saturday and Sunday. International troupes will wear colourful lion costumes as they perform a traditional Chinese dance.

The festival is onFriday from2p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from11 a.m. to 10p.m. and Sunday from11a.m. to 10 p.m.

Taste the Caribbean Food Festival

On Sunday, Taste the Caribbean will bring authentic food, music and artisanal crafts to Market Street at St. Lawrence Market. Performances will include local reggae and soca artists, as well as a steel pannist from Trinidad.

Police recommend people use public transit to attend the parade.
