Low-end tornado damaged 2 barns, house near Mildmay, Ont.

A weak tornado appears to have caused damage to a small strip of ground near Mildmay, Ont., this week.

The first tornado confirmed in Ontario this season appears to have damaged a small strip of ground near Mildmay, Ont.

Environment Canada says that one of its survey teams looked at wind damage that had resulted from severe thunderstorms that moved through the area southwest of Owen Sound on Tuesday afternoon.

Two barns, as well as some trees and hydro poles were damaged. One house suffered significant damage.

The team confirms that the damage was likely caused by a low-end tornado, with estimated wind speeds of about 150 km/h.
