A male victim has died after a shooting in the Parliament Street and Queen Street area on Monday afternoon.

Toronto police say they were called to an address on Sydenham Street at 2:45 p.m. after multiple shots were fired and a male victim had been struck.

The victim was rushed to hospital, but police later reported that he had died.

Sgt. Corey Crawford told reporters that it is believed a group of males were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting.

"It sounds like the males fled in a northbound direction," he said.

Crawford said police believe "three to four" males may have been involved.

Police did not immediately recover a weapon.
