Meet some of Toronto's new councillors

Much of the new Toronto city council will be made up of incumbents, but there are a handful of new faces as well.

CBC News spoke to some of thefirst-time councillors-elect about what they hope to do at city hall and how they are preparing for their new roles.

Jon Burnside was elected in Ward 26 Don Valley West, defeating two-term incumbent John Parker.

"My first priority is to build relationships at city hall," Burnside saidfollowing his victory on election night.

"There are a lot of councillors who I may not agree with their politics per se, but I know that I can find common cause."

In Ward 20 Trinity-Spadina, newcomer Joe Cressy was the winning candidate in arace where more than 20 people were on the ballot.

The victory comes after Cressy made a run at a seat in the House of Commons earlier this year.

After his win on Monday night, he's now gearing up for his new job.

"I understand that there are sessions that are hosted for some of the new councillors like myself, whether it's looking at details around the Planning Actor the conflict-of-interest guidelines," said Cressy.
