Miss Canada explains the hockey stick dress

It turned heads and made headlines, it drew cheers and jeersmission accomplished for Alex Kavanagh, the fashion designer behind the hockey stick dress sported this week by Miss Universe Canada ChanelBeckenlehner.

"We knew it would get a lot of attention," Kavanagh told CBC News.

"If you could see these pageants they're getting more extravagant and crazier every year. So to compete you have to go big or go home."
