Man dead after North York shooting, police say

A man has died after a shooting in North York Thursday night, Toronto police say.

Victim identified by police as Alexander Vinogradsky, 39 of Thornhill

A man has died after a shooting in TorontoThursday night, police say.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots heard in North York, near Finch Avenue West and Dufferin Street, at 10:46 p.m.

When policearrived, they found a dark-coloured SUV with multiple bullet holes to the vehicle, a news release Friday said.

Officers initially said they found a person with gunshot woundsinside a vehicle on arrival, but later confirmed hewas found outside. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.

Police have identified the victim asAlexander Vinogradsky, 39 of Thornhill.The homicide unit will be investigating the death.

Investigators say the suspect fled in a black Mercedes. No other information has been released.

Anyone who may have beenin the area of Finch and Dufferin on Thursday, between 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m, is asked to contact police.
