4 new COVID-19 cases reported in Ontario

Health officials in Ontario reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, tentatively bringing the total number of cases in the province to 32.

Three of the cases were confirmed by the Ministry of Health, while a fourth was reported by authorities in Peel Region.

The new cases confirmed by the ministry include twowomen in their 40s and 60sand a man in his 60s.

In a news release, the ministry saidthat thewoman in her 40stested positive for coronavirus after she returnedfrom Colorado on March 2.

The woman wenttoSunnybrook Health Sciences Centre's emergency department, was tested there and was sent home that day. Sheremains in self-isolation.

The womanin her 60s returned from France on March 2and presented herself to Scarborough Health Network General's emergency department, in Toronto, on March 7, according to the ministry.

It also said that a manin his 60s returned from Washington, D.C., on March 3and presented himself to North York General Hospital's emergency department, also in Toronto, on March 7.

Both patients tested positive and have since been discharged.They remain at home in self-isolation, the ministry said.

The instance in Peel is a man in his 50swho returned from a trip to Germany on March 7.

Of all the confirmed cases in Ontario, four have been resolved, the ministry added.

"At this time, the virus is not circulating locally,"the ministry said.

"However, given the global circumstances,Ontario is actively working with city and health partners to plan for the potential of local spread."

Dr. David Williams, Ontario's chief medical officer of health, is expected toprovide an update todayat 3 p.m.

Ontario has the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongall provinces and territories in Canada.
