Poppy box stolen from Barrie, Ont., coffee shop

Barrie police are searching for two people suspected of stealing a poppy box from a coffee shop.

Barrie police are searching for two people suspected of stealing a poppy box from a coffee shop.

A man and a woman walked into a Barrie, Ont.,coffee shop early Saturday morning.

The woman allegedly removed her jacket to conceal a poppy box atop a glass doughnut display, police said in a statement. She then cradled the box in her jacket on her way to the washroom.

Meanwhile, police allege the man distracted the cashier by changing his order multiple times. He eventually purchased two doughnuts and the woman returned from the washroom.

They left the store with the poppy box.

The woman is white with a heavy build and believed to be between 20 and 40 years old. She has long, dark, wavy hair. She was wearing a dark sweater, a scarf, jeans and either bright pink or red shoes. He coat is grey or green and has fur lining the hood.

The man is white with a medium build and believed to be between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a green hat, grey pants, boots anda green or grey vest with a blue or grey sweater underneath it.

Police expect to identify both suspects using digital video of the incident.
