Proposed Caledonia GO station moves closer to construction

The process to build a new GO station on Eglinton Avenue West will begin this summer, Metrolinx announced on Friday.

The process to build a new GO station onEglinton Avenue West will begin this summer, Metrolinx announced on Friday.

The provincial transit authority announced it will conduct an environmental assessment for the future Caledonia Station during the summer monthsa keyfirst step in the construction of the new facility. When completed, the proposed station will integrate with theEglinton Crosstown LRT line.

The proposed station's construction is dependant on passing the environmental assessment.

"With easy access to the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT, this proposed new GO station would improve the integration of two major transit networks," saidBruce McCuaig, president and CEO of Metrolinx.

Metrolinxis also set to host severalpublic meetings to get the community's feedback on the proposed station. The first will be held onTuesday, May 26at York Memorial Collegiate Institute from6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The provincial government is touting the new station as a part of its Moving Ontario Forwardplan to invest$31.5 billionover the next 10 years in transit.
