Report of falling concrete from Gardiner stalls traffic before rush hour

City crews have reopened the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard East and Lower JarvisStreet aftera driver said a piece of concrete fell from the Gardiner Expressway onto a vehicle.

Police closed the intersection after receivinga call at 1:30 p.m. Thursdayfrom a man who says he was driving eastbound on the Gardiner when a piece of concrete fell on his windshield.

Const.Victor Kwong, spokesperson for Toronto Police Service,saidthe caller didn't sayhow big the piece of concrete was and whether it caused any damage but saidhe can only assume the driver's windshield smashed.

Police confirmed that no one was injured and didn't know whether the driver was on the Gardinerexit ramp at Lower Jarvis when the incident occurred.

Trevor Tenn, the manager of city road operations, sayscity crews attended the scene around 3:30 p.m., and their investigation revealed noevidence of fallen concrete.

Crews cleaned upthe scene, and after they deemed everything was safe, they reopened the road. Police confirm there was minor traffic delays that cleared before rush hour.
