Case of alleged Ripley's aquarium skinny-dipper put over to Friday

Police say David Weaver, 37, allegedly stripped naked and jumped into a tank at the downtown Toronto aquarium late last Friday.

A man accused of skinny-dipping ina shark tank at Ripley's Aquarium has had his case put over a day.

David Weaver appeared briefly in Toronto court Thursday morning, but his bailhearingwas adjourned until Friday.

He worea red-and-black striped shirtas he stood in the prisoner's box.

Police say Weaver, 37, allegedly stripped naked and jumped into a tank at the downtown Toronto aquarium late last Friday.

The Nelson, B.C., resident was arrested in Thunder Bay on Wednesday, police said, and wastransported back to Toronto.

Weaver was also wanted in connection withan assault earlier Friday evening, police said.

The alleged assault took place outside of Medieval Times at Exhibition Place, police said,and the victim suffered serious injuries. It is believed the assailant fled and went to the aquarium, about five kilometres east.

Weaveris facing a total of three charges, includingassault causing bodily harm and two types ofmischief.

A video of Weaver's alleged swim at the aquarium made headlines Monday. It showsa man takingoff his clothes and divinginto the Dangerous Lagoon, a 2.9-million-litre tank with severalmarine animals,including 17 sharks.
