In true Ford family style, everyone is invited to celebrate Rob Ford's memory, one year after his death. A public celebration will be held on Wednesday at Woodbine Banquet Hall in Etobicoke.

Mayor John Tory released a statement offering his condolences to Ford's family and friends as "they mark this sombre anniversary."

"A year ago a family lost a treasured son, brother, husband, father and uncle and the City of Toronto lost a former Mayor," reads his message. "Rob Ford left us far too soon and again today my thoughts are with his family - Renata and their two children, his mother, Diane, his brothers Doug and Randy, his sister Kathy and the rest of the Ford family including Councillor Michael Ford."

The former Toronto mayor who polarized voters with his brash, uncompromising political style died on March 22, 2016, at the age of 46. He was diagnosed with a rare but aggressive type of cancer in 2014.
