Ontario's police watchdog is investigating after a 37-year-old man was seriously injured in a fall from a fourth floor window in Toronto on the weekend.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said Toronto police responded to a 911 call about a man in distress at a home on Spencer Avenue near Springhurst Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Officers located the man and tried to help him, but he fell from the window, according to the SIU.

The SIU said paramedics took the man to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Paramedics told CBC Toronto that they took another person to hospital with minor injuries.
