Ride for Heart to close DVP early Sunday, festivals shutting other roads to make travel tricky this weekend

If you normally headinto the city on four wheels, be sure to plan an alternate route as the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway will be closed to vehicles until 2 p.m. for a different sort of traffic: bicycles.

The BecelHeart and Stroke Ride for Heart will see theGardinerExpressway closed betweenCarlawAvenue and theHumberBridge, and the Don Valley Parkwayclosed between Highway 401 and theGardinerExpressway, from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.

Eastbound collector lanes of theGardinerExpressway in the area of theDowlingAvenue Bridge (between the ramp to Lake Shore Boulevard and the ramp toJamesonAvenue) will be closed starting at 12:01 a.m. Sunday in preparation for a temporary bridge atDowlingAvenue.

Lake Shore Boulevard is an alternative route for motorists to use instead of theGardinerExpressway. Alternative routes to use instead of the Don Valley Parkway are Leslie Street, Don Mills Road and Victoria Park Avenue.

Also closed Sunday isConlins Road from Ellesmere Road to Military Trail from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m for Maya's March.
