The Toronto District School Board will give elementary students a summary of their marks after all.

The school board had planned to provide its 170,000-plus Grade 1 to 8 students with "placement letters" amid the job action by teachers represented by the Elementary Teachers'Federation of Ontario (ETFO). But the TDSB said late Tuesdaya summary of marks, attendance and grade placement will be sent out by mid-July.

Teachers provided the marks, but refused to enter them into an electronic system as part of their work-to-rule campaign.

The TDSB had previously said it would have to input 3.4 million entries to produce report cards.

"To ensure that all students and parents receive marks in an equitable and timely manner, the TDSB is deploying teams comprised of senior staff and business/operational staff to schools that require additional assistance,"the board said in a news release.

The board said it will cost $180,000 to send out the summaries.
