Police say animals were injured, killed in Riverdale this month
A 16-year-old boy has been charged in an animal cruelty investigation after Toronto police allegehe killed a cat and several wild animals.
In a news release Friday, police alleged thatthe teeninjured and killed the animals between Aug. 1 and Aug. 26 in Toronto'sRiverdale neighbourhood. The cat belonged to a community member.
The teen was arrested and charged on Thursday with failure to comply with conditions, two counts of unnecessary pain and suffering or injury to an animal, and killing or injuring other animals.
The teenwas scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice courtroom on Friday morning. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Policebelieve there were witnesses to the injuring and killing of the animalsand are urging members of the public to come forward if they witnessed any incidents or captured them on video.
