Three charged in violent armed robbery

Toronto policesay the violent armed robbery at Inkas Security last month was an inside job.

Andre Hartwell, 29, was an Inkas Security employee from June 2012 to March 2013. Police sayhe wasn't an active employee at the time of the robbery and was getting hours sparingly. Insp. Mike Earl explained that he still had his badge and uniform.

"He would have inside information as to how the premises operation," Earl said.

During a news conference on Wednesday morning, police announced that three Brampton men have been arrested andcharged with robbery, with one suspect still on the loose. The robbery took place in the early morning hours of April 14 at the Inkas Security office near Finch and Weston Road.

Police believe Aundre Hartwell's brother Devon Hartwell, 27, and another unidentified man were the pair that carried out the robbery. Two masked men bound and pistol-whipped an Inkas Security employee before stealing the money, according to police. Cecil Stewart, 27, acted as the driver of the getaway car, Earl said.

Lived lavish lifestyle before arrests

Police say the three men have been living a lavish lifestyle since the robbery.

After executing 12 search warrants in the Toronto and Peel region on Tuesday, Toronto Police Service (TPS) arrested the Hartwell brothers on Ferncastle Crescent in Brampton. Stewart was arrested at Aylesbury Drive, a few kilometres south of the Ferncastle Crescent address.

Police say they seized $117,000 in cash, three motorcycles, a BMW M5 along with a 2010 Honda Accord, as well as drugs.

"There's thousands of dollars that were seized, lot of the product was still in boxes," said Earl.

Other items police believe were bought with the stolen money include furniture, appliances and electronics, some of which were still in boxes.

Police are still on the hunt for the second suspect in the case. They will not disclose how much money was stolen during the heist.
