An anti-carding protest in Toronto drew links between what's going on in this city and what's happening in Baltimore

A vocal group of protesters criticized the police practice of carding outside the Toronto Police Service headquarters on Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds ofprotesters joined the event, where speakers shared their personal experiences with carding and other interactions with the police. Organizers also spoke about the importance of standing in solidarity with protesters in Baltimore, where there have been days of unrest following the death of Freddie Gray.

"These issues are connected,"said organizer Lena Peters.

"Police violence, state violence and police brutality affect black people and people in Canada all the time."

The protesters marched to the American consulate on University Avenue following their demonstration at police headquarters.
