Just weeks after heavy rains caused flooding problems in the Greater Toronto Area, the region is set to get soaked again, Environment Canada says.

The agency has issued a special weather statement for areas including Toronto, Mississauga, Oshawa, Oakville, Vaughanand Brampton, calling for rainfall amounts up to 50 millimetresstarting Thursday night.

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," the statement reads.

Last month, partsof the city saw more than 100 millimetres of rainfall in a torrential downpour that flooded homes, streets and major highways including the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway.

At the height of thatstorm, 167,000 Toronto Hydro customers were without power.
