Road closures, TTC service disruptions across Toronto this weekend

Several road closures and transit disruptionsare in storethis weekend as special events and festivals return to Toronto. Here's what you need to know.

Several road closures and transit disruptionsare in storethis weekend as special events and festivals return to Toronto. Here's what you need to know:

Ride to Conquer Cancer

Road closures are planned on Lake Shore Boulevard W.onSaturday as thousands of cyclists prepare to hit the road for the 15th annual Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.

The fundraising event for thePrincess Margaret Cancer Centre returns for the first time in twoyears.Cyclists will travel more than 200 km from Toronto to Niagara Falls over the course of twodays. More than4,600 cyclists are expected to take part.

The ride will start at Exhibition Place on Saturday morning. The following road closures will be in effect:

  • Westbound Lake Shore BoulevardW.from Strachan Avenueto British Columbia Driveat 6a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.
  • Westbound Lake Shore BoulevardW.from British Columbia Driveto Windermere Avenueat 8a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.

Also on Saturday, Lake Shore BoulevardW.will be closed to vehicles fromSecond Street to Seventh Streetfrom5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. for The Lakeshore Village Grilled Cheese Challenge.

Run for Women, Word on the Street

Queen's Park Crescent E. and W.will be closed to vehicles from College Street to Bloor Street W.from 12:01 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday for the Run for Women event in support of the Department of Psychiatry at Women's College Hospital.

Queen's Park Crescent E.and W.will be closed to vehiclesfrom Wellesley Street W.to Bloor Street W.from 10:30 a.m. Saturdayto 6 p.m. Sundayfor the Word on the Street festival.

Portugal Day Parade

Lansdowne Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Bloor Street W. to College Street from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdayforthe Portugal Day Parade.

Islington Avenue remains closed to vehiclesfrom Eglinton Avenue W.to The Kingswayuntil Friday, June 17 forthe RBC Canadian Open.

ActiveTO

ActiveTO will take place on Bayview Avenuefrom Rosedale Valley Road to Lawren Harris Square; River Streetbetween Bayview Avenue and Spruce Street; and The Meadoway from Brimley Road to Scarborough Golf Club Road, from 7 a.m. on Saturday until 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Roads within High Park will be closed to vehicles all weekend.

TTC advisories

If you're hoping to avoid the gridlock on the roads and hop on the subway, there aresome service advisories in effect:

  • There will be no subway service all weekendon TTC Line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair stations due to Metrolinx construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
  • Service onLine 2 between St. George and Broadview stations will begin by noon on Sunday to accommodate beam replacement on the Prince Edward (Bloor) Viaduct.
  • Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed on Sunday.

Some bus and streetcar routes will also be impacted by the weekend's events:

  • The 29 Dufferinbus and 501 Queen streetcar will be diverting on Saturdayfrom 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • The 501 Queen streetcarwill also be diverting on Saturdayto accommodate the Lakeshore Village Grilled Cheese Challenge.
  • The 19 Bay, 72 Pape, 97 Yonge, 320 Yonge and 172 Cherry Beach buseswill be diverting due to filming at Queens Quay and Yonge Street on Saturday
  • The 19 Bay bus will be diverting from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • The 47 Lansdownebus, 63 Ossingtonbus and 505 Dundasstreetcar will be diverting from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Delays are expected on the29 Dufferinbusduring this time.
  • The 13 Avenue Road and the 94 Wellesley will be diverting all weekend
