The cold weather is causing problems for people living in Toronto.

The temperature in Toronto stayed squarely in the negative double digits throughout Monday, never getting warmer than 14 C.

The windchill made it feel even colder, more like 30 for much of the morning.

The cold was having an effect on people and on the infrastructure supporting the city's residents.

A series of watermain breaks shut down several sidewalks and made for dangerously slick streets in some cases.

Getting around the city was a problem for both drivers and people trying to traverse icy sidewalks.

Doris Nwosu found herself struggling to move a stroller through an intersection in the Jane Street and Lawrence Avenue West area,

"I'm thinking of where to step my feet so I don't fall down," Nwosu told CBC News.
