Each Metropass issued next year will bear an iconic image of our city, giving you reason enough to collect them all.

But there's more.

"Every pass will include a clue to the following month's image and at the end of the year customers who piece all 12 passes together will have a one of a kind TTC collectible that celebrates Toronto," the TTC said in a statement Monday.

As the TTC begins its transition to the PRESTO fare card, 2016 will mark the last full year that Metropasses will be sold in their current form.

Metropasses were first introduced on the TTC in May 1980 and cost $26. They now cost $141.50 per month.

The commission says thatmore than 321,000 customers purchase a pass each month.

The TTC is looking at raising fares in 2016 to help cope with aprojected$53 million dollar shortfall, but Metropass users could get a break from rising costs.

Last month, the commission's budget committee explored several scenarios forfare increasesbutvoted againstraisingthe cost of the Metropass.

The January pass, which features an image of the skating rink at Nathan Phillips Square, is on sale now.
