Uber driver sought in sexual assault investigation

An Uber driver is wanted for a sexual assault involving a 25-year-old passenger on Tuesday.

Toronto police say the assault happened in his vehicle.

A 25-year-old woman hailed an Uber vehicle in theYonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area to drive to her home in theLawrence Avenue West and Avenue Roadarea, say police.

The driver allegedlysexually assaulted her inside the vehicle.

The driver, listed in the Uber app under the name "Amritpal", isdescribed by police as 26 to 30 years old, with short black spiked hair a chin strap-style beard.

In response, Uberimmediately removed the driver from its platform and say it hasreached out to law enforcement to assist in the investigation.

Uber called the allegations disturbing.
