Here's what's open in Toronto on Victoria Day weekend

Most grocery stores will be closed for Victoria Day 2024 in Toronto, but you can still catch fireworks and check out plenty of attractions on Monday.

Government offices will be closed Monday

If you're planning to take full advantage of the Victoria Day festivities this long weekend, here's a look at what will beopen and closed in Toronto:

Fireworks

The City of Toronto will be holding its annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay Park on Monday, starting at 10 p.m.

People are advised to take public transit. Extra buses will be running before and after the show, Toronto police said.

Attendees are not allowed to set off their own fireworks, Supint. Kimberley O'Toole said Thursday. Drinking is also not permitted at Ashbridges Bay Parkand speakers must be kept at a reasonable level, she said.

More police will be present at the beach this year, O'Toole said.

"When people come to the beach, some people are concerned about the increased police presence," she said. "We explain that it is to ensure that everyone is able to ensure a safe experience while they're here."

She also advised people to not get in the water as temperatures remain very cold.

Transit

  • On Victoria Day, the TTC will operate on their Sunday schedule, but will start earlier at 6 a.m.

  • The GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday.

Groceries

  • Most chain grocery stores will be closed on Monday, but check store websites for local hours of operation.
  • Rabba Fine Foods stores will be open on Monday.
  • Some Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexalls locations will be open Monday. Check pharmacy websites for local hours of operation.

Malls

  • CF Eaton Centre: open Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Vaughan Mills: open Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Fairview Mall: closed Monday.

  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre: closed Monday.

  • CF Sherway Gardens: closed Monday.

  • CF Shops at Don Mills: closed Monday.

LCBO and Beer Store

  • The LCBO is closed Monday.

  • Select The Beer Store locations will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.: 452 Bathurst St., 2625 A Weston Rd., 6212 Yonge St. and 534 Parliament St.

  • Select The Wine Rack stores will also be operating, with individual store hours available on their website.

Government and postal services

  • Federal, provincialand municipal offices are closed on Monday, including Service Canada and Service Ontario.

  • Canada Post will not be operating on Monday.

Recreation

  • Cineplex theatres: open Monday, with show times available on their website.

  • Toronto Zoo: open Monday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Riverdale Farm: open Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Royal Ontario Museum: open Monday 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • CN Tower: open Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Ripley's Aquarium: open Monday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • High Park animal display: open Monday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Hockey Hall of Fame: open Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • St. Lawrence Market: open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on Monday.

  • Toronto History museums: operating normal hours Saturday and Sunday, closed on Monday.

  • Toronto Public Library branches: closed on Sunday andMonday.
