Police seek woman who pulled on girl's hijab, assaulted her aboard SRT

Police are asking for the public's help to identify a woman involved in an assault and criminal harassment investigation. The woman allegedly pulled at a girl's hijab, while kicking her and yelling profanities.

Police are searching for awomanwho allegedly pulled on a girl's hijab, whileassaultingher and making racist comments in an attackthat occurredon the Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) network.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 10 aboard an SRT train in the Scarborough Town Centre area.

The woman pulled on the girl's hijab, kicked her and began yelling profanities, aboard the train, police said. Both got off the LRT and went to a bus platform, where the woman continued to make racist comments about the girl's attire.

The suspect is described as 20-30, five feet five inches tall, with shoulder-length dark hair. She was wearing dark-framed prescription glasses, a blue bomber-style winter jacket, skinny jeans and black shoes. She was also carrying a beige purse.

This attack is just one incident in a string of crimes against Muslims in the past month.
